Configure Teacher-Visible Behavior Codes When Submitting a Discipline Incident
When teachers submit a discipline incident in simpldiscipline, they select a placeholder behavior code to describe the incident. This behavior code is not submitted to the SIS. It is used only as a temporary placeholder and appears in the email notification sent to administrators when the incident is submitted.
Once an administrator reviews and approves the incident, the placeholder behavior is automatically replaced with the behavior code selected by the administrator.
In some cases, districts or schools may want to prevent teachers from selecting certain behavior codes when submitting incidents. The Teacher-Visible Behavior Codes setting allows administrators to control which behavior options teachers can see and select.
Who Can Configure Teacher-Visible Behavior Codes?
By default, only users with the Super Admin role can configure Teacher-Visible Behavior Codes. Super Admins can also delegate management of this setting to school-level administrators. Once this permission has been delegated, Reviewers at that school can manage which behavior codes are available to teachers at their location.
These settings can be configured individually for each school.
Configure Teacher-Visible Behavior Codes
To configure the available behavior codes:
- Navigate to the red Admin area.
- Select System Settings.
- Locate Teacher-Visible Behavior Codes.
Configure All Schools at Once
To apply the same behavior code selections to multiple schools, use the Mass Assign button.
Configure an Individual School
To configure a specific school, expand the school and select or deselect the appropriate behavior codes.
Checked behaviors will be available for teachers to select when submitting a discipline incident.
Unchecked behaviors will not be available for teachers to select.
Important Note
Teacher-Visible Behavior Codes only control which behaviors teachers can select when submitting an incident. This setting does not prevent administrators from selecting those behavior codes when reviewing or approving an incident. To control which behavior codes administrators can use, configure the separate Permitted Behavior Codes setting.
