Configure Permitted Behavior and Action Codes
By default, simpldiscipline imports all available behavior and action codes from your student information system (SIS). Over time, many SIS databases accumulate outdated or inactive codes that may still be available for selection. These codes are often labeled "Do Not Use," "Inactive," or something similar. Your district may also have active behavior or action codes that you do not want administrators to use when processing discipline incidents.
simpldiscipline allows you to control which behavior and action codes are available for administrators to select when approving incidents.
Configure Permitted Codes
To manage these settings:
- Navigate to the red Admin area.
- Select System Settings.
- Locate the following settings:
- Permitted Behavior Codes
- Permitted Action Codes
- Toggle off any behavior or action codes that you do not want administrators to use.
- Save your changes.
Once a code is disabled, it will no longer appear as an available option when administrators approve discipline incidents.
District-Wide Setting
Permitted behavior and action codes are configured district-wide. These settings cannot be customized separately for individual schools.
Important: Codes With Sub-Codes
Some behavior or action codes may contain sub-codes. If a code uses sub-codes, do not enable a sub-code that duplicates the original behavior code. Doing so can cause data errors when incidents are processed or sent to the student information system.
