Navigating The Truancy Center

simpldiscipline makes managing student discipline and student referrals simple.

The simpldiscipline Truancy Center is a customizable dashboard designed to identify and highlight students who meet specific truancy criteria. Each district can fully customize these criteria to fit their unique needs.

Administrators can filter truancy data by year, grade level, and school, providing a clear and tailored view of truancy trends within their district

Administrators can click on a student's name to view a detailed overview of their absences.

simpldiscipline is configured to observe a grace period—a set number of days that a school district allows students to submit an excuse for their absence. If the grace period passes and the student still meets the truancy criteria, a truancy task will be created for that student.

The specific truancy tasks assigned for each indicator are customizable based on state and district requirements.

Truancy tasks can be accessed through the left-side navigation bar or via the truancy task alert banner at the top of the page.

Upon entering the truancy task section, you will see a list of pending tasks. These tasks can be sorted by year, grade level, or school. To complete a task, simply click the "Complete Task" button next to the student's name.

The nature of the tasks will vary based on your specific state and district requirements

Verify the absence information, the truancy behavior code (if applicable), and the intervention date (if applicable).

Select the "Create a New Document" button to generate truancy letters, intervention plans, or other available templates. These vary by state and/or district. If you have specific needs, please reach out to your simpldiscipline representative.

Follow the steps in the document to create the necessary template.
You also have the ability to upload documents, such as signed attendance intervention plans, etc. These will be stored with the truancy task incident.

Once you are ready, simply select "Complete Task" at the bottom of the page. If your tasks are configured to create incidents in PowerSchool, a truancy incident will be created.

For questions regarding specific truancy configurations in your district, please reach out to your simpldiscipline contact for assistance.
