Automatically Email Students When Calendar Events Are Assigned

By default, students do not receive automatic email notifications when new calendar action events are assigned to them. Districts/Schools have the option to enable this feature on a school-by-school basis.

When enabled, simpldiscipline will automatically send an email to the student’s school email address whenever a new calendar action is assigned. This includes actions such as:

  • In-School Suspension (ISS)
  • Out-of-School Suspension (OSS)
  • Detention
  • Lunch Detention
  • Any other calendar-based consequence

The email contains the details of the assigned action and functions similarly to the notification emails sent to teachers. Unlike teachers, however, students cannot customize or disable these email notifications.

Enabling Student Email Notifications

To enable this feature:

  1. Select the Admin button in the upper-right corner of simpldiscipline.
  2. In the left navigation menu, select Incident Calendar.
  3. Open Incident Calendar Locations.
  4. Select the school you would like to configure.
  5. Enable the Automatically Email Students When Calendar Events Are Assigned setting.
  6. Save your changes.

This setting is configured independently for each school.

Note: Your district must add the simpldiscipline email domain to your student email allow-list (or safe sender list) to ensure students receive these notifications.
