Understanding Teacher Feedback on Discipline Incidents

Teacher Feedback allows school administrators to communicate back to teachers who are listed as reporters on a discipline incident.

Administrators can choose how much information to provide based on what is appropriate for the incident.

When is Teacher Feedback required?

If at least one base User (teacher) is listed as a reporter on the incident, Teacher Feedback is required before the incident can be approved.

This helps ensure that teachers receive follow-up after submitting a discipline incident. In some states, like Alabama, providing feedback to teachers may also be required under state law or teacher rights legislation.

Is Teacher Feedback required when a Reviewer submits the incident?

No. Teacher Feedback is not required when all reporters on the incident have an elevated Reviewer role and no base User (teacher) is listed as a reporter.

When Teacher Feedback is not required:

• The Teacher Feedback section will be collapsed by default.
• Feedback does not have to be entered before the incident can be approved.
• Reviewers can still expand the section and provide feedback if needed.

What if both a teacher and a Reviewer are listed as reporters?

If any base User (teacher) is listed as a reporter, Teacher Feedback is required.

For example, if an administrator enters an incident on behalf of a teacher and adds that teacher as a reporter, the Reviewer must provide Teacher Feedback before approving the incident.
