Administrators can return a submitted incident to the original submitter when changes or additional information are needed before the incident is approved.

This is helpful when the submitter needs to make corrections such as:

  • Updating or clarifying the incident narrative
  • Correcting the students included in the incident
  • Adding missing information
  • Correcting other incident details before administrative review
Why use this feature?
Returning an incident allows the original submitter to make the necessary corrections instead of requiring an administrator to update the incident on their behalf.

Returning an Incident to the Submitter

From the incident, select the option to Return to Submitter.

When returning the incident, you can include a note explaining what needs to be updated or corrected. This gives the submitter clear instructions about the changes they need to make. Once returned, the incident is sent back to the original submitter for editing.

What Does the Submitter Need to Do?

The submitter can open the returned incident, review the administrator's note, and make the requested changes.

For example, they may need to:

  • Revise or clarify the narrative
  • Add or remove a student from the incident
  • Correct information that was entered incorrectly
  • Add additional details requested by the administrator

After making the necessary changes, the submitter can resubmit the incident.

What Happens After the Incident Is Resubmitted?

Once the submitter resubmits the incident, it will return to the Pending Incidents area for administrative review. An administrator can then review the updated information and continue with the normal incident approval process.

Note: Returning an incident does not approve or deny it. It simply sends the incident back to the original submitter so corrections can be made before it is reviewed again.
