Combine a Letter Template with a PDF
The Combine with a PDF feature allows you to automatically append a PDF to the end of a letter generated in simpldiscipline. This is useful when a letter needs to include an additional document, such as a district form, policy, informational handout, or other supporting document.
How It Works
When a PDF is selected in the Combine with a PDF field on a letter template, simpldiscipline automatically appends that PDF to the end of the letter each time the letter is generated. For example, if the generated letter is two pages and the attached PDF is three pages, the final document will contain all five pages.
Requesting a PDF to Be Added
Users cannot upload PDFs directly into simpldiscipline. If you would like to use a PDF with this feature, email the PDF to help@simpledu.com and request that it be uploaded to your account.
Once the PDF has been uploaded by simpledu, it will become available in the Combine with a PDF selection when configuring your letter template.
Selecting the PDF
Once our team has uploaded the PDF:
- Navigate to the letter template you would like to update.
- Locate the Combine with a PDF option at the bottom of the letter.
- Select the appropriate PDF from the available options.
- Save your changes.
The selected PDF will then automatically be appended to every letter generated from that template.
Important: The PDF Does Not Appear in Preview
The attached PDF will not appear when previewing the letter template. The PDF is combined with the letter only when the document is actually generated. To confirm that the correct PDF is attached, generate the letter and view the completed document.
Updating or Replacing a PDF
If the PDF needs to be updated or replaced, send the new version to help@simpledu.com and let us know which PDF it should replace. Once the updated PDF is available, verify that the correct document is selected in the Combine with a PDF field.
Note: This feature does not modify the PDF or insert its contents into the editable letter template. The PDF is simply appended to the end of the final generated document.
