The Claimed By feature on the Pending Incidents page allows administrators to indicate when they are working on a particular incident. This can help prevent multiple administrators from unknowingly working on the same incident.

How Claimed By Works

The Claimed By field is a drop-down menu that displays available Reviewers for the school.

When an administrator begins working on an incident, they can select their name from the Claimed By drop-down. Their name will then appear on the incident so other administrators can see that the incident is already being handled.

Important Information

The Claimed By feature is:

  • Optional — Schools are not required to use this feature.
  • Manual — simpldiscipline does not automatically assign incidents to administrators.
  • For convenience only — Claiming an incident does not change permissions, restrict access, or prevent another authorized administrator from viewing or processing the incident.

A user's name will only appear in the Claimed By field when a user manually selects that name from the drop-down.

Example

If several administrators review pending incidents throughout the day, one administrator may select their name under Claimed By before beginning work on an incident. Other administrators viewing the Pending Incidents page can then see who has claimed the incident and know that someone is already working on it.

The feature is simply a way for your administrative team to coordinate work within the Pending Incidents queue.
