Student Attendance Detail Page
A Student Attendance Detail page is available in simpldiscipline, providing a more complete view of a student's attendance in one place. The page combines both daily attendance and meeting attendance records and includes additional details such as the number of minutes the student was marked present. Users can select an attendance record to view more information about when the attendance was recorded and who entered or updated it.
Where to find it: The Student Attendance Detail page can be accessed directly from a truancy task or from the Toolbox on the student's overview page.
Once on the page, users will see a detailed attendance view like the example below:
The page includes filtering options in the month and year views, allowing users to filter by present or absent status and by specific attendance codes. Matching results are displayed by week so users can review the attendance record in context.
simpldiscipline also retains a history of the attendance data imported during each hourly PowerSchool sync. This is not a complete attendance change-history log, as only the latest information available at the time of each sync is recorded. For example, if attendance is changed multiple times between the 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM syncs, simpldiscipline will only retain the final version available at the 10:00 AM sync. Districts that need a complete audit trail should continue to use Attendance Change History in the SIS, while the history in simpldiscipline provides an easy way to review when and by whom attendance was changed when questions arise related to truancy or attendance discrepancies. Users can see this history by clicking on the attendance code. The following modal will appear:
In addition, simpldiscipline can surface common attendance patterns that may require review, such as a student being marked absent for all but one class period. These alerts are designed to help attendance staff quickly identify potential data issues or inconsistencies that could prevent processes, such as truancy identification, from occurring as expected.
