Configuring Parent/Guardian Contact Settings

simpldiscipline imports all active parent/guardian contacts from PowerSchool. You can view all active contacts at any time by clicking View Parent/Guardian Contacts throughout the system.

simpldiscipline also follows the contact start and end dates in PowerSchool. If a contact should no longer appear in simpldiscipline, the contact must have an end date in PowerSchool that has already passed. For SC: simpldiscipline respects the No Contact flag. 

Which contacts appear for notifications?

Although all active contacts can be viewed in simpldiscipline, only contacts that match your district's notification settings will appear in the Notify Parents/Guardians email window.

By default, contacts are included if they match any of the following:

• The relationship is Mother, Father, or Guardian
• The Custodial flag is selected
• The Lives With Student flag is selected
• The Receives Mail flag is selected

Important: These settings are additive, not restrictive. A contact only needs to match one selected relationship or flag to be included.

• If you only want contacts marked Custodial, uncheck every other option and leave only Custodial selected.
• If you only want contacts marked Receives Mail, uncheck every other option and leave only Receives Mail selected.

Note: The Receives Mail option requires simpldiscipline plugin version 4.2 or later. If your district is using an older plugin version, this option will not be available.

How to change which contacts are included

District administrators can change these settings for the entire district.

1. Go to Admin Area.
2. Select System Settings from the left menu.
3. Click Contacts.
4. Check the relationships and/or flags you want to include.
5. Uncheck any relationships or flags you do not want to include.
6. Click Save.

Changes apply system-wide once saved.
